xlviii, 360 pp. With 2 copper-engraved plates. (12mo) 6¾x3¾, period tree calf with gilt-roll border, spine tooled in gilt, morocco spine label. Third Edition. Before the innovation of Chemistry Sets, young scientists could use such books as this to uncover the mysteries of chemical reactions, and perhaps blow things up. The two plates depict various chemical apparatus. With old binder's sticker of David Morris, Carmarthen, on the front pastedown, as is the more recent bookplate of John Sinkankas.
