Description:
Five double-page woodcut plates removed from the Peregrinationes in Terram Sanctam of Benhard von Breydenbach. Includes views of Rhodes (2, being duplicates); Corfu; Modon (i.e., Methoni, Greece); and Parenz (Parenzo). Each approx. 11½x16. Breydenbach's account of travels to Palestine marked an important event in the history of printing, being the first illustrated book of travels to be printed when it appeared in 1486. There was a second edition in 1490, and another in 1502. In the present collection, the two views of Rhodes, and that of Modon, all have a portion timmed off at right. Latin text on verso, and a few ink notations.

Wormholes in one of the views of Rhodes, repair in lower margin, a few scattered wormholes in the others, Corfu starting to split along centerfold, else very good, sold as is.
