Title:
The Family Flora and Materia Medica Botanica, Containing the Botanical Analysis, Natural History, and Chemical and Medical Properties and Uses of Plants. Illustrated by Colored Engravings of Original Drawings, Copied from Nature

Author:
Good, Peter P.

Place:
Cambridge, MA

Publisher:
Peter P. Good, Jr.

Date:
[1854]

Description:
2 vols. Illustrated with 98 hand-colored lithographed plates, with tissue guards; 1 uncolored lithographed plate of the author, used in an ad at the rear of Vol. I. 9¼x5½, modern half calf & cloth, spines lettered in gilt, decorated endpapers. Excellent series of hand-colored plates, with much information on the plants and their medicinal properties. The first edition was published in 1847, but it comprised only Volume I. The present issue with the copyright-page of Volume II dated 1845, but in error; there is a preliminary leaf dated 1852, and it seems most probable that both volumes were published in 1854. Rebound by John Sinkankis, with his initials stamped on the leather; his bookplate on the front pastedowns.
