Silliman went to Europe at the behest of the Trustees of Yale College to collect various volumes with which to enlarge their library. He observed the ruins at Stonhenge while in England, and left an account of them illustrated with three rather idealized engravings. With the bookplates of John Sinkankas. Each with ink ownership signature of H. Pemberton, dated 1813, to the bottom of the title-page; old rubberstamps of the Friends Free Library over the imprints.
