2 vols. [6], 182, [2], 156, [8] pp. Illus. with 119 color lithographed plates in Vol. I, and 41 duotone lithographed plates in Vol. II; tissue guards. 14½x11¼, period half brown morocco & cloth, spines tooled & lettered in gilt, raised bands, marbled endpapers.

Superbly illustrated ornithology, wherein over 700 species and varieties of North American birds are represented, with a "popular account of their habits and characteristics." The second volume consists of Alfred Brehm's Ornithology; or the Science of Birds. Nissen 473-474.

Condition:

Some scuffing and wear to the leather, corners showing, joints tender with front joint of Vol. I starting to split; some mostly marginal foxing to contents intruding into the plate images occasionally, lacking one tissue guard, else very good.
