Illustrated poster in black, white and red of a woman, eagles flying overhead. Frank Hazenplug (1873-1908) studied at the Chicago School of Art, and worked for Will Bradley at Stone & Kimball in Chicago. The first poster designed by Hazenplug for Chap Book, this illustration appeared on the magazine's cover on November 1, 1895. The Chap Book was a magazine published in Chicago from 1894-1898, dedicated to "all that is most modern and aggressive in the Young Man's literature," and introduced little known writers and poets of the era, such as Yeats, Henry James, Ibsen, H.G. Wells, and Rimbaud. This is one of rarest Chap Book posters. Kiehl 97, DFP I 269, Reims 1233.
