Invoice listing in a quite small hand numerous goods shipped to St. Louis during the heyday of the fur trade, when St. Louis was the entrepot to the transmississippi frontier. The items and their costs are listed, and identified as to owners. The invoice is addressed to Henry Shaw in St. Louis. One interesting detail is a short note from Hook on the fourth page, regarding an elderly member of the shipping firm, "H.C. Hook from Sheffield has just called I says that he expects his father in 2 days, who as determined to come to London to see his friends and old customers once more, and nothing that they can do to dissuade him has any effect, they say his health is very good. But he has lost one eye, most of his teeth, and all of his memory..."
