[4], 401 pp. (8vo) original black, white, and gray patterned paper over boards with white cloth spine, top edge stained blue-gray, patterned endpapers, pictorial dust jacket. Custom cloth case. First Edition, second issue jacket.

Second issue jacket, no printed price on the front flap and the price for Maurice Hindus' Humanity Uprooted in the back panel advertisement is $3.50. Only 1789 copies were issued and according to the publisher, sales records show that about 1500 copies had been sold by the time Sanctuary was published in February 1931. "Faulkner often called this his favorite work because its composition had caused him the greatest agony" - Petersen A6b; Massey 322.

Lot Amendments

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
