153, [1] pp. 10 tipped-in hand-pulled photogravure plates printed under the supervision of the photographer. (Folio) 14½x11¼, original cloth-backed boards, title in gilt on front board, paper title label on spine. Original card slipcase, paper label on front. One of 600 copies printed on French hand-made paper.

Alvin Langdon Coburn (1882-1966) was a key figure in the development of American pictorialism. He became the first major photographer to emphasize the visual potential of elevated viewpoints and later made some of the first completely abstract photographs. Rare in the original slipcase.

Condition:
Slipcase professionally restored, reusing the original front and rear panels; volume a touch faded at board edges, light edge wear; the illustrations have offset to facing pages as typical with this title; near fine in a restored slipcase.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
