Volumes I & III (volume numbers on spines). Comprises the Old Testament from Genesis through Chap X of Job, and the New Testament beginning with Secundum Matthaeum. The first volume with elaborate engraved title-page, 2 double-page engravings, 7 full-page engravings; and 10 quarter-page engravings; the final volume with 59 quarter-page engravings. 42½x27½ cm (16¾x10¾"), later half red calf and marbled boards, spines tooled in gilt, raised bands, marbled endpapers.

A partial set of the splendid Plantin Press Latin Bible, printed in large roman type in two columns, especially notable for the fine metalcuts, including the elaborate title-page. The illustrates are engraved by Abraham de Bruyn and others after drawings by Crispin van den Broeck and Pieter van der Borcht .

Lot Amendments

Rubbing to covers, top compartment of Vol. I spine lacking; damp-staining in top margin in a few instances intruding into top of text; overall very good, sold as is.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
