Lithographed map, on gray wove paper. On p.1 of what was a 4-page letter sheet, with 1st sheet only present. 17.5x23.3 cm (6¾x10¼").

Rather simple but attractive map of San Francisco from Larkin Street east, with west at the top. Baird describes it as "Street map (of 1853?) with small drawings of various types of ships in bay, including downtown area to Larkin St. At upper left, nine letter identifications of public buildings: A. Custom House to (J missing: German influence?) K. U.S. Hospital..." Warren Heckrotte places the date as a year before the guess of Baird, based on his note that the "dealer James Smalldon had a copy of this map with letter dated --,1852"
