Important directory of businesses in San Francisco and along the West Coast, quite rare, especially so with the map. Quebedeaux notes it has "an unusual listing of advertisements of San Francisco business houses, and a few elsewhere, with a full description and history of many," and lauds the "historical introductions to the businesses - an extremely valuable source." The map, printed in red and black, is: "Railroad Map of the City of San Francisco California. Published by A. Gensoul, Bookseller and Stationer... Lith. Britton & Co. S. F." (33x38.5 cm). The map extends south to Napa St. and west to Divisadero, with concentric circles a quarter mile apart emanating from Portsmouth Square. It shows the four railroad lines of the city. The book includes an advertisement for Adrien Gensoul, and a text page describing the maps on offer at his Pacific Map Depot.

Provenance: J. Thomas, 1/01
