Rare miniature map of California the size of a playing card. As Warren Heckrotte describes: "Map extends from Oregon border to San Luis Obispo. Inset: Shows southern California at smaller scale. Inset: A Table of Legal Distances from Each County Seat to Sacramento. On verso: A Table of Distances and the Direction from each County Seat in the State to some of the Principal Places in its own Bounds. Only counties from Alameda to Placer, in alphabetical order, are listed. Perhaps there should be another card listing the rest. The main map follows rather closely Baker's Map of the Mining Region, though missing most of the detail because of the size. One correction is that it has Lake Tahoe correctly placed. Also the county boundaries have been brought up to date. Baker's map was published by Barber and Baker; is this the same Barber? One wonders for what purpose this small map was issued. Now it is rare."
