Thompson trapped fur for the Hudson's Bay Company & the North West Company, and is noted for his cartographic achievements. "One of the most important contributions to Western history and exploration published in the twentieth century." (Streeter, 3221) Published as Volume XII of the Publications of the Champlain Society. Only one copy has appeared at auction since the Streeter copy in 1968, at PBA Galleries in 2011. Rare.
