Manuscript petition from a Mexican soldier for land in Baja California as reward for nearly forty years of service

Ink manuscript on 6 leaves (title leaf, 4 leaves with 6¼ pages of writing, blank leaf at end), an 1838 copy of the original 1826 petition, titled "Expediente Promovido por Ciudadano Javier Ignacio en solicitud del paraje nombrado la Grulla." 32x22 cm (12½x8½")

Request by Javier Ignacio, a soldier who served for some 39 years, including at the Misión Santo Tomás [de Aquino] in northwestern Baja California, asking for the land called "La Grulla", owned by the mission.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
