In describing the North Pacific charts, Warren Heckrotte notes "Each Chart extend from 0º to 40º N Lat. and together from 110º E Long. to 70º W Long.; that is, from China to west coast of North America. Ships routes, winds shown in color, varied according to season. Chart 6 has ship route dated 1853. The tracks of some famous ships are recorded; eg, Flying Cloud and Sea Witch."
