15 volumes. (12mo) 18.5x11.5 cm (7¼x4½"),  period full dark brown morocco tooled in gilt on covers and spines, raised bands, marbled endpapers, gilt inner dentelles, all edges gilt.

Attractive set of the works of the great man of letters, including the historically significant "Astoria or, Anecdotes of an Enterprise beyond the Rocky Mountains," with a  folding map; "The Adventures of Captain Bonneville, U.S.A. in the Rocky Mountains and the Far West," also with a folding map; "The Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus," with two folding maps; and more. With ink inscription in Volume I, "To Mrs. J.M. Page, D. Ogden Mills." The presenter would be Darius Ogden Mills (1825-1910), a prominent American banker and philanthropist who, for a time, was California's wealthiest citizen. Most of the volumes with ink ownership signature of Mary Page on the front flyleaf.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
