Second Edition, following the first of 1827 and adding an appendix. This work was the first publication of the tireless western Indian missionary, Isaac McCoy. McCoy suggests that all the area west of Missouri, southwest of the Missouri River, and north of the then boundary with Mexico at the Arkansas, become an Indian territory. In the appendix McCoy gives his vision of the character and qualities of the proposed missions. "One of the earliest suggestions for a reservation on which to colonize and educate western Indians" - Howes.
