4 volumes. xii, (v)-xliv, 460; viii, 432; viii, 374; viii, 413, [3] pp. 65 engraved maps, charts, and plates, many folding. (4to) 25.5x20 cm (10x8") period full mottled calf, spines gilt, morocco labels. First Edition in French.

Antoine Suard's translation of A Voyage to the South Pole and round the World, first published in 1777. Suard used both Cook's account as well as Forster's in the first four volumes of his translation, separating Forster's content with inverted commas in the dovetailed account. A fifth volume with Forster's observations was published later and is not present here. Sabin 16249.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
