Lithographed map. 53.5x71.3 cm (21x28").
Rare cadastral map of the newly minted town of Kenwood, California, showing the roads and lots, with sketches of a few of the houses already built. A block of text at the right of the map relates that "...In 1887 a present resident of Kenwood... was directed to try the climate of this valley... he enlisted the company of two or three of his friends and together they purchased the entire tract, picked out homes for themselves, and then subdivided the balance in tracts to suit purchasers, and also laid out the village called Kenwood..." Prices for plots of land are given. There are three listings for the map in OCLC/WorldCat, but all either photocopies or digital format, none are originals.
