[6], 187, [1] pp. Engraved title vignette repeated on verso of the final leaf, ornamental tailpiece. (4to) 24x19 cm (9½x7½"), bound in modern brown cloth with gilt lettering on spine. First Edition.

The only completed part of a projected series, truncated by a financial failure that would see its author (a one-time Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania) die in debtor's prison two years after the book was published. With the bookplate of Lord Stamp of Shortlands. Laid in is a period handwritten manuscript leaf with what appears to be some notes upon the author and the volume. This copy lacks the maps.

Lot Amendments

Wear and soiling to binding, rubbing to extremities, numerous scuffs and indentations to cloth, bumps to corners and edges; lacking both maps issued with volume, some pencil marginalia, some dampstaining and toning to page margins, light foxing; very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
