Album with 48 original photographs of mining activities in northern China, and transport there on the Tran-Siberian Railroad and through Manchuria






Silver photographs, each approx. 7x9.7 cm (2¾x3¾"), two on each side of 12 card stock mounts in an album, with captions in white ink beneath each image. Album measures 23.8x16 cm (9½x6¼"), cloth.

Rare, revealing and important photographic record of a trip through the mining districts of northern China, beginning at Kainsk. Lake Baikal and Harbin on the Trans-Siberian Railway, through Mukden in Manchuria, then to the coal mining center of Fushun,  the placer mines of Kang-shan, across the Hun River to Tung-Hwa, more placers at Ta-miao-erh-kou and Tung-hua, gold mining at Ta-maio-kou, and more. One of the photographs is identified as being of mining engineer Henry Brelich, co-author of Mining in Malaya and other works. Others include: "Korean Miners at Chi-tao-kou"; "Crossing the Hun - tributary of the Yalu"; "Ta-miao-erh-kou Placer, Washing Gold"; "Street in Tung-hwa"; "Shrine outside Ling-kai"; "Fushun Coal Mine"; "The Expedition en route outside Mukden"; and more.

We have a full service shipping department to ensure proper packing and safe delivery of purchases at reasonable cost. We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
