First German edition of The Living Desert, companion piece to the documentary film of the same name, boldly inscribed and signed by Walt Disney in fiber-tip ink on the title page to Dr. Heinz-Georg Klös, noted veterinarian, author, and long-time head of the Berlin Zoo: “To Dr. Kloess, Sincerely, Walt Disney.” Recipient’s ink-stamp on front pastedown and front free endpaper. The 1953 Disney documentary The Living Desert depicted a day in the life of creatures living in a desert in the southwestern United States, following toads, reptiles, spiders, wild pigs, insects, mice and birds as they struggled to find food while not becoming prey themselves. Die Wüste Lebt is richly illustrated with 91 tipped-in color photographic plates, at least one plate per page. An excellent inscribed copy with a very nice association.
