[256]; bound with (along bottom): A Valuable Collection of Sacred Music, Adapted to the Various Metres in Watts, Exeter: Williams, 1818, pp. [2], 251, [3]; printed music throughout, generally 3 or 4 staves to a page; together 2 volumes in 1, the first above the other in split-leaf fashion, and designed so that the psalms and hymns could be read in tandem. (8vo) 19x12 cm (7½x4½"), period sheep with red morocco spine label, titled in gilt.

Period bookplate of Cleora M. Whitney Hewlett. Early American hymnal. The leaves are divided horizontally, the upper sections containing the words, and the lower sections the music, "in such a manner that any tune may be presented to the eye with any psalm or hymn." American Imprints 43338 & 46717.

Lot Amendments
Light wear to binding; hinges cracked, period owner's signature on front free endpaper, foxing throughout, chips and tears to a few leaves at front and index at rear; very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
