Touted upon its publication as "the most important book to the American Fly-Fisher ever published," Jennings'’s book was the first systematic angler’s' entomology for American waters. Largely devoted to mayflies, it also includes chapters on stoneflies, caddisflies, ants, midges, variants, and minnow imitations, setting the standard for subsequent books on the subject.
