Guide to the City of Mexico (wrapper title)
[Mexico City]

Unpaginated. A few woodcut illustrations. 12.8x9.2 cm (5x3½"), original printed wrappers.

Scarce little tourist's guide produced by J.G. Hatton, with an advertisement for Hatton's "Original Hole in the Wall Old Curiosity Shop" at No. 10 Gante St. in Mexico City. There is notice of the various attractions to be found, street car routes, and extensive vocabularies to be used in various situations, such as "You charge me too much" when hiring a car. The only indication of date is the statement that "under the liberal and progressive policy of President [Porfirio] Diaz, Mexico is being rapidly developed, and is taking a front rank among the nations of the world." Diaz served seven terms as President of Mexico  from 1876 to 1911, with only a few brief periods out of office. OCLC/WorldCat lists only one item that seems to conform to the present booklet, at the University of California Berkeley, but gives the author as A.J. Woods, making no mention of Hatton, and dating it 1940s.
