• Handwritten religious text on palm leaves, bound in the traditional style with string through holes in the leaves. Approx. 44 leaves, written on both sides in Pali script, with a single string through holes in each leaf holding them together, with two later dark brown wooden boards as covers. 7.5x27.5x4 cm (3x10¾x1½"). Early Burmese, or possible Sri Lankan, manuscript Buddhist religious text, likely a prayer book. c,14th century. Leaves darkened from age with some edge wear, a few more than others, very good overall. Sold as is.
• Handwritten religious text on palm leaves, with uncommon polychrome painted wood covers, bound in the traditional style with string through holes in the leaves, Approx. 19 leaves written on both sides in Pali script, with a single string passing through two holes in each leaf holding them together, with two color painted wooden boards as covers. 5x37x3.5 cm (2x14½x1½"). Burmese, or possibly Sri Lankan, manuscript Buddhist religious text, likely a prayer book. This example notable for the thick hand-painted wooden board that form the binding. c.19th century. Minor rubbing and wear to the covers, else very good.
