Early anatomical work by Sigismund Freud, before he ventured into psychoanalysis. This was Freud’s second paper on neurology – on the structure of nerve fibers and nerve cells in the river crayfish – a pioneering work contributing to the understanding of the cytoskeleton and demonstrating that neuronal axons are fibrillary outgrowth of the cell body. Formerly in in the Library of Congress, with rubberstamps on title pages, bookplate with withdrawn stamp, etc.
