Printed in two columns, black letter. 31.2x21.5 cm (12¼x8½"), loose.

Nine  leaves from the Actes of the Apostles, mostly contiguous. The Great Bible was the first authorized edition of the Bible in English, authorized by King Henry VIII of England to be read aloud in the church services of the Church of England. The Great Bible was prepared by Myles Coverdale. This 1540 version is a slightly reduced reprint of the 1539 first edition. Herbert 52.

Some darkening and aging, fore-margins trimmed affecting shoulder notes, a few repairs, one leaf with top corner replaced affecting text; about very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
