Clippings and photos record the play and victory of John Warren Watson in the 1901 Amateur Golf Championship of the River Plate at Lomas Golf Club in Buenos Aires. Lomas is the oldest course in South America. John Warren Watson, nineteen at the time of this win, was later the head of the John Warren Watson Company, manufacturers of the "Watson Stabilator" for automobiles. The Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst is situated on land once owned by Watson on which he envisioned, but never constructed, a course of his own. A few of the later clippings relate to his play in other tournaments. A unique piece of golfing history.
