(8vo) gilt-decorated purple-blue cloth with baseball themed vignette on cover, lettered in gilt. First Edition.

One the earliest books solely devoted to America's national pastime. The author, A.G. Spalding (1850-1915) was a professional baseball player himself and of course the founder of the famous sporting goods manufacturer / publisher. Spalding first played competitively with the Rockford Pioneers, a youth team in 1865.

Condition:
Some wear and soiling to cloth with darkening to spine and rubbing to extremities; hinges cracked, binding shaken but holding, first few leaves nearly detached, some offsetting to endpapers, toning to interior; good or better.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
