Hunter was present on board H.M.S. Dido during various scenes of action in the Anglo-Egyptian war in Syria in 1840. A British-Turkish military force invaded Lebanon in September, 1840, in order to force Mehmet Ali to return Syria to Ottoman rule and to abandon his dangerous attempts to partition the Ottoman Empire.

Lot Amendments

Light wear and soiling to bindings with rubbing to extremities, leather worn at corners; vol. 1 front hinge cracked, pp. 131-134 of vol. 2 detached but present, foxing to frontispieces, toning and occasional light foxing throughout; very good.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
