Gillis, William R.

San Francisco

M.D. Carr & Co.

xxviii, 308 pp. Printed on various color papers. A few of the ads with woodcut embellishments. Additional ads pasted inside front and rear covers. (8vo) 22.5x14.5 cm (9x5¾") original black leather backed printed boards. First Edition.

Exceedingly rare Comstock directory. In addition to residential and business listings, this directory includes a section of Ordinances for Virginia City, and several tables of mining statistics. The city of Reno makes its first appearance in a directory here. Very rare. Quibedeaux locates 10 copies, though OCLC WorldCat only locates 5 of these 10. Only two copies appear in auction record (2004 & 2014).
