[iv], 279, [6] pp. (8vo) original green cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Second Edition, Revised and Enlarged.

The second edition of the first book on wine to be published in California and one of the cornerstones of California wine literature. First published in 1867, this revised edition contains a 37 page appendix not included in the first recording the "Progress, Improvements and Statistics of Grape Culture up to the Centennial Year," and a list of the twelve best varieties of grape for wine as awarded by the California Vine and Wine Growers' Association in 1873. Both editions are rare, no copies of the first edition appear in auction records since 1987, and no copies of this second edition appear at all.

Lot Amendments
