Description:

Approx. 45 pages used in a larger ledger, the remaining pages blank. 33.3x27 cm (13x10½"), boards.

Fascinating and uncommon records and ephemera relating to the sport of pigeon racing - the ledger lists various races, for young birds or old birds, silver chip, blue chip, etc., the  distances covered, participants, results, etc., often with arcane codes best understood by the cognoscenti. The entries in the ledger date from 1921 to 1927. The accompanying ephemera includes a diploma from the Columbia Club of the American Racing Pigeon Union made out to the Bowers Brothers, 1926; letter to Jacob Bowers about pigeon pedigrees and exchanging "a pair of youngsters this year", 1926; letter from a Brussels, Belgium, pigeon dealer offering various birds to Bowers ("I send the birds free to New York... New York to your Station carriage must be paid by you..."); approx. ten pedigrees of pigeons; and more.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
