Epidemic Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis

Clymer, Meredith

Lindsay & Blakiston

[1 ad], [i], 59, [1] + 8 ad pp. With fold-out map. (12mo) 18.5x12.5 cm (7½x5") original semi-stiff cloth with gilt title. First Edition.

A large fold-out color map of New York City at the front of the volume shows the localities of the cerebro-spinal meningitis outbreak at the time. This historical and geographical sketch on the outbreak and treatment of the disease was originally written in 1866 and published as an addition to Dr. Aitken's Science and Practice of Medicine. This is the first separate publication of the piece. Scarce, with no current copies for sale, or recent auction records located.

Lot Amendments

Some edgewear to cloth, binding starting to detach from text block but still holding; 2" closed tear to map at stub; very good.
