2 preliminary leaves, plus 24 lithograph plates, 12 colored by hand. (Oblong 4to) 18.5x27.5 cm (7¼x10¾") original blindstamped brown cloth, lettered in gilt on front. First Edition.

Instruction for the botanical artist, the plates comprise 12 different images, each in an uncolored outline state and a finely hand-colored state. OCLC locates five copies with a preface dated 1836, the preface in this copy is dated 1835 and only a single similarly dated copy is located in OCLC, at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, Delaware. Label of bookseller Elizabeth Woodburn on verso of front flyleaf.

Lot Amendments
Binding faded and lightly worn, hinges cracked; tissue guards lacking from first pair of plates, present on all others, some light wear to pages edges, light foxing; very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail.  For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
