Very scarce early history of this Northern California county, written by its earliest historian. Thompson's "Sketch" covers about every aspect of county history and life, including physical characteristics, natural resources, descriptions of towns, businesses, cultural features, agriculture, wine-making, and much more. The handsome map (approximately 16x21") locates essential features such as physiography, hydrology, roads, towns, etc., also individual rural houses, mills, blacksmiths, churches, schools and more.
