Ozma of Oz
Baum, L. Frank
Reilly & Britton Co.

Illustrated by John R. Neill with full-page color and text illustrations. (8vo) original tan cloth pictorially stamped in black, blue, red and yellow; color pictorial endpapers. First Edition, First State, Binding 'A'

First edition of the third Oz title. Binding 'A' with publisher's spine imprint in large and small capital letters. Second state of text, with the "O" in "Ozma," line five of the Author's Note on p.11, not present. Pp. 135-[136], [153]-154 are integral, while p.[221]-222 has apparently been excised and replaced (there was apparently smudging or offset to the coloring of those pages which occurred during printing and stacking of the sheets, and the worst of them were excised and replaced after the books were assembled). Ad page at rear lists only Land of Oz and John Dough and the Cherub. Bienvenue & Schmidt, p. 29.

Lot Amendments
Light wear and soiling to binding with light rubbing to edges, a bit of fraying to head and heel of spine; two signatures on ownership page; very good.
