3 parts in 1 volume. [8], 187, [5]; 315, [17]; 170 pp. With engraved devices on title pages, head and tail pieces. (4to), 32.5x19 cm (12¾x8), full period calf, raised spine bands, gilt compartments, spine label lettered in gilt.

Ricardo Arsdekin was born in Kilkenny (Ireland) in 1620. He fled to the Southern Low Countries and entered the Jesuit Order in Mechelen in 1642. He taught in Louvain and Antwerp, where he died in 1693. The first edition of this work appeared in 1671, and was placed on the Roman Catholic Index of forbidden books in 1696. The work is praised for its order, conciseness and lucidity (Catholic Encyclopedia). This volume formerly of the Mount St. Alphonsus Seminary in Esopus, NY. with their stamps, pockets, etc. at front and rear. 

Lot Amendments

Wear to binding with rubbing to extremities, some loss to spine gilt and label, black cloth tape with title on spine, joints starting with a bit of loss to spine ends; early manuscript notes in Latin on blank page at front, interior solid with toning and scattered light foxing; very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail.  We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances. For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
