Illustrated play manuscript in German

No place

[13] manuscript pp. on thick paper, with 1 full page original watercolor illustration and others in the text. (4to) 31x25 cm (12x10"), pages bound with colored string, laid in a decorative padded silk covering.

Handwritten and illustrated German manuscript of a play, seemingly concerning a professor and a wood nymph. The first page is a charming full page original watercolor of a girl with basket and flowers, accompanied by rabbits with a flowering wreath border. Other original watercolors are incorporated in the text, and the last leaf is a watercolor of a bouquet of roses. The author/artist is unknown; the illustrated cast of character page at front is signed at the bottom: "B.S. 24.8.1919." A unique and enchanting volume.

Lot Amendments

Fair amount of wear and soiling to outer silk cover, with numerous tears, foxing; manuscript itself very good with some light finger soiling and a bit of light foxing; very good.
