xxxi, [3], 318, [3] pp. (4to), 26x19 cm (10¼x8"), specially bound in three quarter pig skin and tan cloth, spine lettered and decorated in gilt, rust colored patina endpapers; housed in Niger leather and cloth clamshell box lined with patina paper, raised spine bands, spine stamped in gilt. No. 1 of 250 copies printed by Taylor, Nash & Taylor. First Edition. 

This is copy no. 1 of the first publication of the Book Club of California, the first edition of Cowan's landmark bibliography. The Zamorano Eighty notes Cowan as "for many years the greatest authority on the bibliography of California." This volume is handsomely bound with a custom slipcase. With the decorative bookplate of Edward Dean Lyman, with his name in pencil on the front free endpaper, pencil marginalia and some annotations. A truly unique copy of this important book. Light wear to binding with some rubbing to leather and extremities, a bit of fraying to leather at head of spine; interior solid with occasional marginalia in pencil, a bit of browning to page block edges; very good or better.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
