[vi], 384, [1] pp. Wood engraved initials and borders designed by William Morris. (8vo) 20.5x14.5 cm (8x5¾") original limp vellum, spine lettered in gilt, ribbon ties lacking, custom slipcase. One of 300 copies on paper.

Since its publication, one of the most desirable titles of the press, the original subscription selling out rapidly. This copy with the double title page borders delicately colored by hand, the large initial letter 'A' colored in gilt. An additional approximately 85 initial letters within also colored by hand, one in gilt. Peterson A24. Provenance: The fine press collection of Lynval Davidson, a small calligraphic slip with his name inserted at the half title. Davidson's collection was sold by Parke-Bernet in 1969.

Lot Amendments

Some yellowing and soiling to vellum, ribbon ties detached (3 of the 4 still present laid in); light foxing; very good.

We are specialists at packing and shipping books and works on paper.   All lots purchased by the same client are combined for shipping in order to keep the cost as economical as possible.  Our preferred method for domestic shipments is UPS Ground but we can also ship via FedEx or USPS Priority Mail.  We do NOT ship USPS Media Mail under any circumstances.For international orders we select the most appropriate carrier depending on the value and weight of the items purchased.  We are happy to accommodate special arrangements by request.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
