Rare photographic view book of the pillaging, destruction and death during the First Battle of Shanghai, begun when Chinese citizenry, in protest of the Japanese occupation of northeastern China, boycotted and attacked Japanese businesses in Shanghai, which escalated into warfare between Chinese and Japanese troops. The violence lasted from January to May, 1932, and the resultant treaty gave the Japanese virtual control over Shanghai, Suzhou, and Kunshan. OCLC/WorldCat lists only one copy, at the University of Texas at El Paso (the listing has the spelling in the title corrected). Rubberstamp in Chinese to front wrapper.
