8 page poem by Bloodgood H. Cutter. Bloodgood Haviland Cutter was a prominent and colorful figure in late nineteenth century Long Island, New York. Cutter developed a reputation for being a "character," partially because of the poetry  (or "doggerel" as some called it) that he wrote and distributed. After booking passage on a 5 month trip to the holy land with Mark Twain, Cutter found himself immortalized in Twain's book Innocents Abroad as the "Poet Lariat."  The booklet is tipped on a backing piece of paper with clear tape along the left edge of the wrappers. Smaller pieces of paper with information and comments on the volume are affixed below.  Scarce piece of Twain related ephemera. No auction records located since 1922.
