A rare separately published extract, likely published contemporaneously with the novel. The scene is that of the death of the child Johnny in the Children's Hospital. Not to be confused with the rare Speech of Charles Dickens on behalf of the hospital in 1858 of which only a few copies are known. Only three copies of the present pamphlet are located on OCLC, at Duke University, Yale, and the Huntington Library.
