134, [2] + 16 (blank memoranda pages) & [4] ad pp. Illustrated with 5 lithographed plates, including a chromolithograph frontispiece portrait of Tom Morris from a drawing by Thomas Hodge at St. Andrews; several wood engravings in text by Ranald M. Alexander. (12mo) original decorative brown cloth, front cover and spine stamped in black and gilt with golfing vignettes. Custom leather slipcase. First Edition.
According to Murdoch, this book is actually a lineal descendant of Robert Chambers' A Few Rambling Remarks on Golf, but the changes and enlargement of this edition were enough to merit a change in title and its own bibliographical listing. The brown cloth issue seems to be among the scarcer binding colors. Murdoch 118; D&M 820; D&J C8890.
