The 1942 Tam O’Shanter golf tournament was won by the great Byron Nelson (1912-2006), whose streak of 11 victories in a row in 1945 is considered the least attainable record in golf. This event was played the first year, when after the U.S. Open was postponed (until 1946) due to the war; one of the few major U.S. golf events at that time and its proceed benefited the Army Emergency Relief.
