Signed by Travers on the front free endpaper. Also signed on the front free endpaper by Earle Hooker Eaton who Travers thanks at the end of his preface for "the assistance he has given me in the preparation of this book." Eaton was a poet of some note and also contributed several articles on golf in Canada to the American Golfer magazine. Travers won his first national title in 1907, claiming the U.S. Amateur and successfully defended it the following year. He chose not to play in 1909 and 1910 but again won in 1912 and 1913. Travers also won the 1915 U.S. Open and is considered one of the major figures in American golf; this scarce first edition is also his first book. Murdoch 783; D&M 37090; D&J T13960.
