This is copy no. 1 of the first publication of the Book Club of California, the first edition of Cowan's landmark bibliography. The Zamorano Eighty notes Cowan as "for many years the greatest authority on the bibliography of California." This volume is handsomely bound with a custom slipcase. With the decorative bookplate of Edward Dean Lyman, with his name in pencil on the front free endpaper, pencil marginalia and some annotations. A truly unique copy of this important book.
